Wordplay Recruitment

About Wordplay

Wordplay English Language Center is an American owned and operated language center in Hanoi, Vietnam that opened its doors in April 2017 with just 50 students. After 5 years, Wordplay now has 450+ students studying phonics, reading, writing, speaking, STEM, IELTS, GED, and more.

Wordplay is not your typical language center where you are handed a lesson plan and few expectations. We hold our teachers and staff to high standards and high expectations. If you are just passing through Vietnam and are using teaching to fund your travels, then this is not the job for you. If you genuinely love children, have a strong work ethic, and want to be an amazing teacher while you are experiencing Vietnam, then we are happy to train you as much as necessary and welcome you with open arms.

Important Notes

Teachers Do Not Need to Make Their Own Lesson Plans

  • Teachers are provided with lesson plan templates that clearly outline the timeline and the daily goals
  • However, there is approximately 20-minutes in each class where the teacher is expected to apply creative ideas to engage students in a fun way while achieving the goals of the class

There is Very Little Take-Home Work

  • On average, teachers write detailed reports once per month, per class that include:
    • scored assessments
    • Sandwich comments  (7-10 sentences in length) for each student

Technology is Welcome, But Not Required

  • All classes can be successfully and effectively taught using just a white board, a marker, and course textbooks
  • Any use of technology is purely supplemental to the lesson
  • Appropriate, beneficial use of technology is welcome, but not expected or required

Nuts & Bolts

  • Work permit provided as required by law*
  • Temporary Residence Card (TRC) provided as required by law*
  • 650,000 VND per hour

*as required by law is important to note because many schools and centers promise these things but end up not providing them, thus employing teachers illegally
